RACHEL FILER
Rachel Filer, 97, who lived in Geneva many years and served as librarian of the Geneva Public Library, died at 3 p.m. Friday in Swiss Village, Berne, her residence the past five years.
She was born in Hartford Township on January 17, 1893 to Samuel and Fanny Schindler Egly and married Raymond Filer on April 16, 1919; he died on April 27,1964.
She formerly owned and operated The File Shop, a clothing store in Geneva, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Geneva and its Women's Society.
Surviving are nieces, including Vena Simmons, Geneva, and nephews. Three brothers and one sister are deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery, Geneva, Rev. Byron Kaiser officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Preferred memorials are to Geneva Public Library.
