  1. Title: Albritton's of the Second Millennuim by Bobbie G Albritton pp. 26-28

Text: Bobby Albritton places Ralph Albritton as the child of Joseph Albrighton, not Francis Albrighton, as some researchers do. It appears there were several Albrighton men who came to Virginia over a short time frame, and stayed in contact with one another. There is no proof Ralph is the son of Joseph, only reasonable deduction.

* Note: Ralph Albritton was born in York County, Virginia about 1656 and is believed to be the son of Joseph Albrighton of York County. Ralph was the first to change the spelling of his name from Albrighton to Albritton. His name first appears in the records of York County in 1689 concerning the theft of some hogs. Although the hogs were killed at his house, Ralph was not accused of any wrong doing. He went to court as a witness in the case and made a deposition stating that on the 24th of January 1689, he was 33 years old. His name also appears several times as a witness in abstracts of deeds, wills, and court orders of York County. He was a witness to the will of James Foresyth February 2, 1695 in York County. Ralph married Mary_________ around 1681 in York County. He was a planter and farmer as were most of his peers. They had seven male children as listed in the Register of Charles Parish in York County. There may have been other children that are not listed in the register. Ralph is believed to have died on January 21, 1701 in York County. Ralph Albritton was originally thought to have been a son of George Albrighton and grandson of Francis Albrighton of York County, Virginia. However, a restudy of the wills and deeds of York County prove that this is incorrect. The male children of Francis including George left no male heirs. There is circumstantial evidence that he was the son of Joseph Albrighton of York County. References: Dorman, op.cit., York Deeds, Wills & Orders, 1687-1691, Part 2, ppp. 36 York County, Va.
