He was born in East Flat Rock and was the son of Franklin Pierce and Sally Kate Jones. He was a Naval Aviator (Pearl Harbor survivor), teacher and great storyteller.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Pierce and Laura Jones of Gainesville, Florida; two grandchildren: Chelsea Dinsmore and EZ Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Frances and Nora Dinsmore.

Ralph was buried beside his wife, Arlen, at the Jones Cemetery in Upward. Dr. George Jones assisted the family.
