Ralph was the only son of Owen, 2nd Baron of Ogle and Eleanor Hilton.[1] He was born 07 November 1468 to Owen Ogle and Eleanor Hilton in Bothal, Northumberland. They were married in 1467, on the 26th of May at Ogle, Whalton, Northumberland.[citation needed]

Most sources state that Ralph went on to marry Margaret Gascoigne[2] in 1492 at Gawthorpe, Yorkshire.[citation needed] But according to one transcription from the Bothal tomb, he married the daughter of Sir William Jackson, Knt. Collins (1768), further confuses the situation by saying Ralph married Anne Lumley.[3][4]

Ralph was summoned to Parliament from 17 October 1509 to 28 November 1511,[5] and was at the Battle of Flodden.[6] Succeeded by the 4th Baron Ogle, before 09 September 1513,[7] Ralph was buried in an alabaster tomb in St Andrew's Church, Bothal.[8][9]
