About Rankin
Known and referred to as Rankin. Some of the oral history that Rankin gave to his family: The Robertson, as Rankin named him, was a Skye man. Now this is hearsay from me because Dad, Rankin, told it us on the Rowallan farm, about the time we got the Vanguard. The Robertsons came from the Donnaghi - that's is not spelled right - Clan.<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_Donnachaidh> <https://www.donnachaidh.com/> .John Robertson left Margaret with their young family in Glasgow when he died from a habit of drinking whisky, Margaret raised them by taking in washing. David went to the (British) army and to India and eventually to Alice Allen and to Canada. He had been crippled, it seems, due to being a great footballer back in Glasgow where knee-capping was a way of handicapping the competition. His (????) retirement from the army was also due to the worsening of his knees.
