About Ray Eugene Watson

Ray E. Watson, 63 year old resident of Woodward, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 in the Midwest City Regional Hospital in Midwest City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003 in the Bible Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Brinkman officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Ray Eugene Watson was born March 20, 1940 in rural Woodward; he was the son of Wilbur Frank and Eithel Margaret (Loomis) Watson. He was the fourth of five children. Ray graduated from Sharon High School in 1958. He then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He was married to Arleta Pummel on April 22, 1960 in Woodward. To this union two children were born, Dana and Danny. They made their home in the Sharon area. In the late 1960's he went to work for J & R Transport as a truck driver. The family lived in Laverne and Perryton, Texas. Ray worked for J. D. Hodges and Schlumberger throughout the years. He also worked off and on for Charles Christian. They made their home in Woodward in later years and they had been raising cattle.

Ray was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Arleta of the home; two children, Dana Blocker of Mustang; Danny Watson and wife Sherri of Forgan; four grandchildren, Shane and Josh Blocker of Mustang; Allison and Collin Watson of Forgan; three sisters, Irene and Dean Estle of Sharon; Cleona Arnold of Enid; Virginia and Gary Ham of Sharon; one brother, Marion and Shirley Watson of Woodward; brothers and sisters-in-law, Veetrice and Wayne Campbell of Woodward; Waynona and Delbert Covalt of Woodward; Marilyn and John Ball of Sharon, Adeline and Larry Eaves of Foss; Gary and Arleta Pummel of Sharon; Eldon and Karla Pummel of Woodward; mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Evelyn Pummel of Woodward; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Eithel Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, with the funeral home as custodian. custodian. Ray E.
