Raymond E. Engel, 40 of Marshfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Engel of Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday December 3, 1940 at St Joseph's hospital in Marshfield while undergoing his third operation for sinus trouble. He had been a patient there since October 23rd.
Mr. Engel was born in Wisconsin Rapids on February 22, 1900. He attended the West Side Lutheran school and Lincoln High School. On July 12,1922 he married Lucy Seely of Marshfield. They have resided at Marshfield for the past two years.
Surviving are his wife Lucy, four children, Norma 16, Edward 15, Shirley 12, and Glenn 9; his parents, two brothers, Roy and Glenn Engel of Wisconsin Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. John F Miller (Bertha), Mrs. Fred Whitrock (Eleanora) and Mrs. William Kegler (Rose), all of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Avolt Marzofka (Wilma) of Rudolph. A brother, William preceded him in death in 1928.
Services will be at the Seehafer-Hansen funeral home in Marshfield. The Rev E.H. Walther will officiate and burial will be in the Marshfield cemetery.
Comment by Pat - My mother, Mildred Miller-Fisher and her cousin Geraldine Whitrock-Spencer were flower girls for the Ray Engel - Lucy Seely wedding. Mom was 9 at the time. Part of the news clipping of the wedding reads as follows; "The little flower girls Mildred Miller and Geraldine Whitrock wore white organic frocks and carried baskets filled with daisies and tied with white tulle bows and streamers."
