About Raymond A. Raber

MOUNT EATON — Raymond A. Raber, 88, of Mount Eaton, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.

He was born in Millersburg on Oct. 3, 1929, to the late Andrew and Lucinda (Raber) Raber and married Sarah Ann Miller on Jan. 15, 1952. She died June 21, 2010.

Along with his wife, Sarah, they were the former owners of Quality Block & Supply near Mount Eaton. In later years, he enjoyed providing transportation for the Amish community.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, and was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin.

Surviving are his children, Esther Cooper (friend Roger) of Salt Springs, Fla., Cindy (David) Stefanski of Smithville, Firman “Fritz” (Diane) Raber of Mount Eaton, Betty Hershberger (friend Marvin) of Dundee, and James “JR” (Tammy) Raber of Creston; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Ada) Raber, Jonas (Mary) Raber and Ervin (Mary) Raber; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Raber.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Breen; a sister, Clara (David) Miller; and a brother, Roy Raber.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, with pastors, Myron Troyer and Matt Hamsher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
