Body of Woman Found In River

The body of a 61-year-old Reba L. Lewis was found in the river this morning, near a houseboat where she lived at the west end of Clinton Street.

Granville Clay, fishing near there, found the body shortly after 8 o'clcok.

Mrs. Lewis lived with her husband, John L. Lewis, a former employee of the city waste department, on the houseboat and was last seen by him at about 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

Lewis said he returned to the bat with his wife, about 3:00 yesterday. He left the boat to get her a soft drink and when he returned she was not there.

Franklin County Corner John Rogers said it is apparently an accidental death by drowning, however, he would not make a statement until he completes the investigation.

Along with the coroner, city police are investigating the death.
