Hi cousin, saw your info on Elizabeth Buechlein Oestreicher Hennhoefer on find a grave. Thanks. They are my third great grandparents, through Barbara. I know very little about the family. If it is not too much trouble, I would love any info you can share, sites to go to, maybe photos stories? I will share with my cousins. Thanks in advance. Brian Arnzen. Barnzen@comcast.net

MessageKlara never remarried and she passed in October 1915 of TB at St. Anthony where she is buried. Just recently found a copy of her death certificate and my greataunt Katherine listed Elizabeth (Buechlien) Oesterricher Hennhoefer's last name as Druesel but Have found nothing under the name Druesel. Had found a death record for Hennhoefer in PHiladelphia in the 1860;s, no way to know if he is "our" Johann Hennhoefer.

Many families from Dubois County, IN moved first to Nuckolls County, NE in search of more land, my grandfather contacted Henry Kitten, a family friend back in Dubois County, about work opportunities in Nuckolls County (Grandpa told me he did not like dynamiting tree stumps....think he saw someone get blown up), after moving to Nebraska he met my Grandmother Catherine "Kate" (Lemke) Sahm. After they were married ten years they moved to a farm just west of Indianola, Red Willow County, Nebraska (my hometown) where quite a number of folks from Dubois County/Nuckolls County had again relocated in the search for more land.

Messagep. 2

Joseph Oestereicher I believe was married, not sure he had any children, and he died in the 1870's. Theresia married a Geisler, she also died relatively young and is buried next to her father in Stl Joseph Cemetery, Jasper.

Klara married John Michael Sahm I in 1875, they had Elizabeth Ann (Sister M. Theckla) OSB buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Teresa was born 1879, is listed in the 1880 census in Millvale, PA, then Josephine, then Katherine, then John Michael died of appendiitus in May 1888 and my Grandfather John Michael Sahm II was born January 13, 1889

Elizabeth is purported to have died in May 1892 at St. Anthony but have not been able to find and documentation of that or her grave in St. Anthony.

Mike

Johann Oesterreicher died in August 1851 and is buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Jasper, Indiana. In April 1852 my Greatgrandmother Klara (Oestreich) Sahm was born, the following September Elisabeth married Johann/John Hennhoefer. A few years later Hennhoefer sued in court to sell the Oesterreicher farm to support the children, Surpriselngly the Judge denied his request. That is the last I know of Hennhoefer. Son Ferdinand served in the Civil War on the Union Side and was captured by the Confederates and later Ferdinand was part of a prisoner exchange and as per rules he could only serve as a medic. Later, believe it was in Maryland, Ferdinand died when a large tent hospital burned down. The parish priest would list those boys from the parish who died that year in the parish register with the date of December 31. Believe the fire occurred in November of that year. Also, Ferdinand was listed as AWOL for many years, Elizabeth applied for his pension and at that time they were able to clear Ferdinand's record. Burial: Saint Anthony Cemetery Saint Anthony Dubois County Indiana, USA
