About Renier Boshoff
Renier Boshoff (1942 - 2009)
Brief overview:
Renier (67) was shot dead in front of his wife Daphne in the early hours of 10th February 2009. After killing Renier, one of the attacker lifted Daphne's gown, and she heard another attacker say, 'he had to leave it'.
Daphne woke up around 01h20 and saw three men in their bedroom, one of them holding a firearm. Renier woke up and tried to stand - he was executed with one shot to the head.
Daphne said she just stood still, as she had been told that one should just keep quiet if you're attacked. The perpetrator who shot Renier took Daphne's hand and ordered to sit on the bed. He asked for money, firearms and jewellery. "He climbed over my husband's head and searched for a firearm under the pillow. They lifted up to the mattress to see if there was no firearm. Then the shooter climbed over my husband, opened the door of the wardrobe and put on my husband's leather jacket.," said Daphne. She said the men searched the whole house and upset the valuables. "I couldn't even move a leg without warning me to sit still. I asked them for a little water, but then they told me to shut up. The attackers tied Daphne's hands and feet with ropes, and shoved a tie into her mouth. One said, 'You must sleep,' and then he walked over to her. "I thought he was going to shoot me, but then he just closed the door." The attackers then ate food in the couple's kitchen before they fled. By 05h45 she managed to make her way to the kitchen. She screamed for about 15 minutes for help until her neighbours heard her.
