Reuben Overton's ancestry is a blank. His marriage to Nancy Clore (Glore) in Kentucky is documented. My DNA tests confirm that Reuben Overton's ancestry actually is in the Howerton family. The spelling of the surname apparently shifted sometime in the late 1700s. Nancy Clore's family came from the Germanna Colony area of Virginia, which includes Orange, Culpeper and Madison Counties in Virginia. There was an Obadiah Overton/Howerton family living in that general area about this same time. There are many parallels in the naming patterns of this Obadiah Overton family and the Reuben Overton family. Speculation now is that Reuben Overton was related to this Obadiah Overton family, but definite proof is lacking.
