According to Whole No. 12 of The Sparks Quarterly:

"John Sparks had married in Surry County about 1777 Sarah Shores, a daughter of Reuben and Susannah Shores of Surry (now Yadkin) County."

"The following record has been worked out by our President, Paul E. Sparks: John Sparks, son of Solomon and Sarah Sparks born 25 Feb. 1753, in Rowan County, North Carolina died 1840-41, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, married about 1777, in Surry County, North Carolina, to Sarah Shores, daughter of Reuben and Susannah Shores born about 1757 (?) place not known, died between 1830 and 1840 in Wilkes County, North Carolina."

Event: Fact 11 AUG 1790 Reuben SHORES of Surry Co. to Charles JOHNSON for 50 pounds, 200 acres, at David HARVIL's corner on George SPARKS' branch adj a black oak on BRUSHY MOUNTAIN.

Event: Fact 1800 Surry Co. Census: Reuben SHORE: 2m16-26, 1f45+, 2f16-26, 1f45+, 4 slaves. David SHORE, Frederick SHORE, John SHORES were only other Shores in Surry. Simeon Shore was in Wilkes Co.

COOPER, Joseph. of Newtown, Gloucester Co.; will of Wife, Hannah, to have the home plantation, 430 acres (at her death brother, Isaac Cooper, to possess the same), etc. Cousins—Wm. Moode and Joseph Howell. Grandchildren—-Mary, Hannah, and Lydia (minors). Children of Jacob Howell, Jun'r. Sister-s—Hannah Morgan and Sarah Raper. Nephews-—Joseph, Benjamin, James, Samuel and William, sons of brother Benjamin Cooper. 600 acres near head of Cooper's Creek in Waterford, Gloucester Co., occupied by John Collins. Jun. Executors—brothers-in-law, Robert Stephens and Isaac Stephens, with power to sell all lands, houses, etc. in Gloucester Co. and elsewhere, and to put money therefrom at interest for use of son. Robert Doyl, when 21, excepting legacies as follows—'1‘o my cousin Thomas, son of Thomas Edgerton,'£7 at 21., Haddonfleld Meeting House, £6 for a burial ground. If son Robert dies under age. estate shall go to my brothers-in-law Robert Henery, and Robert and Isaac Stephens.
