About Rev. Asaph Rice

    Asaph Rice was practicing medicine for a short time, but, having the wrist of his bridle arm broken by his horse falling with him, he was induced to qualify for the gospel ministry at Brookfield, MA.8 He graduated in 1752 at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, studying medicine.8 He was ordained on 16 October 1765 at Westminster, MA. He was a missionary among the Indians for a short time before 1765 before his ordination, and was the second settled minister at Westminster.
