About Rev. David Bradford Ripley
David graduated from Yale College in 1749. He studied for the ministry and was licensed by the Windham Assocation on May 19, 1752. He was the first pastor for a new parish called Abington Society, and was paid "600 pounds Old Tenor". The new church, Congregational Church, had 64 members. By 1778, David was dismissed because he was "disabled by a distressing and incurable disease." He is said to have "possessed a rather surprising gift as a preacher."
David married Betsey Eliot on December 12, 1758 in Lebanon Ct by her father, Rev. Jacob Eliot. They had six children.
