About Rev. David Darling
Born in Dunbar, moved to London circa 1811, married Rebecca in 1816. I left England on 17th November, 1816 and I arrived in Tahiti on the 17th Nov, 1817. I was the first missionary to be sent to Tahiti by the British Bible Society. I worked in the Society Island Tahiti, Austral Islands, Tahiti, and Marquesa Island, Tahiti. I translated scriptures into Marquesian. I retired in 1859 and settled in Sydney, Australia.
Had four children - Adam John, Mary Ann, Eliza and Jemima
