About Rev. David Gage
David Gage, son of Richard Gage and Betsey Hutchinson, was born in Wilton, New Hampshire on Dec. 26, 1809; m. SARAH J. RUSSELL on July 30, 1835; and in Sept. following was ordained as pastor of the Baptist Church in East Washington, New Hampshire, where he labored many years. In 1843 he resigned his pastorate ad removed to New Boston, NH where he preached about ten years. In 1855 he began his labors as State Missionary for the Baptist denomination, and preached in Marlow, Acworth, and Unity, residing in the meantime in Marlow and Acworth. In 1862, in addition to his missionary labor, he was appointed financial agent, and or many years traveled among the churches of the state, preaching and soliciting contributions for missionary work. Some years since, advancing age led to his resignation of his charge, and he has since supplied churches in Canaan, Jefferson, and Chester. He res. in Manchester, NH, which has been his home for many years.
Children were: Freeman D. (b.W. 6/28/1836), Thaddeus G. (b.W. 12/18/1837), Isaac N. (b.W. 9/28/1840), Sidney B. (b.W. 1/1/1843), Julian P. (b. New Boston 10/7/1846), George E. (b. New Boston 12/9/1849), Loren S. (b. New Boston 10/7/1851), and Herbert E. (5/18/1856).
Note: Perhaps an additional child, Lydia (1843) who only appears in the 1850 census.

- 1870 census: David (60) and wife Sarah J. (57) on NH w ch. Julian P. (24), George E. (20), and Herbert (14)
- 1887 death certif: Rev. David Gage, died 5/10/1887, aged 77y,4m,14 d; in Manchester NH, clergyman, congestion of brain.Son of Richard and Betsy.
