John Foster - 1, moved to Ohio in 1796. He was a Methodist Minister for 35 years. A Revolutionary War Soldier in Capt. Peter Mantz, Company in Fredericksburg, Maryland. He enrolled and passed by C. Beatty, July 13, 1776. Information from Adj. Generals office of Annapolis Maryland, Page 47 of Maryland's troop of the Revolutionary War. The Will of John Foster 1, is recorded in Ross Co. Ohio, signed July 11, 1799, and probated Feb. 11, 1800. Page 628 in the Madison Co. History of 1882.

It is quoted in the Foster family history written by Charles Foster of Monticello, Indiana that Jamina Downing Brown was the only Downing Child still in Madison Co. in 1882. One of Janina's brothers or possibly a nephew evidently used his uncles name for his own, Israel B. Brown.
