About Rev. Jonathan Hyde
Bapt. at Cambridge 7 Jan 1711. Worked on his parent's estate in Canterbury, CT and was at Canterbury in 1738 with his wife. Removed to Brookline before 1750; in Jan. of that year he was ordained a Baptist preacher in his own house in Brookline. He had no college education and was one of the "New Lights." He was a friend of the First Baptist Church of Newton. Died 16 Feb. 1796 at Brookline, per Dana Family in America, pg. 55, but this is also given at the date of his wife's death.
