Payson Williston Lyman, son of Daniel Franklin and Eunice Strong (Ferry) Lyman, was born in Easthampton, February 28, 1842; fitted for college at Williston Seminary, Easthampton; Amherst College, '64—'67. Union Theological Seminary,'67—'70; ordained at Belchertown, May 10, 1871, and p., since then.

Published " History of Easthampton," •• Belchertown War Records," and several memorial and historical addresses. Married, August 6, 1873, Caroline Eliza, daughter of Deacon Harrison Root, of Belchertown. Four children.
