A crowd estimated at from 1,500 to 2,000 people crowded in to the Indian normal at Pembroke yesterday afternoon when funeral rites were conducted at 2 o'clock for Rev. P. M. Locklear of Pembroke, one of Robeson county's leading Indian ministers, teacher and farmer.

The funeral service was in charge of Rev. Fuller Lowry, who was assisted by Dr. W. A. Parsons, Methodist minister from Statesville, Revs. Roy Tyner and L. W. Jacobs of Pembroke. High tribute to the character of this Indian leader was paid by the ministers. Dr. Parsons, who preached the funeral spoke beautifully of him as a devout Christian.

Deceased died Monday at 5 p.m. of a heart attack. He was 65 years old. He was a minister of the Methodist faith and had long taken a leading part in the affairs of his people.

Lowry, C. A. Sampson, M. L. Lowry, L.W. Jacobs. The grave in Old Prospect cemetery was banked with a lovely array of handsome floral designs. Assisting with these flowers were Misses Lorraine Lowry, Gertrude Woodell, Grace Smith, Shirley Smith, Eva Hatcher, Dorothy Oxendine, Flora M. Oxendine, Mary Sampson.
