About Rev. Samuel Byram Halliday, D.D.

Rev DR. was a assistant of Henry Ward Beecher in Plymouth Church and spent several years in mission work in NY in connection with the "Five Points House of Industry."

Rev. Halliday conducted Abraham Lincoln on a tour of the facility when Lincoln was in New York in February of 1860 to give his famous Cooper Union speech, a major factor in his subsequent election to the presidency.

He also established a library on the Fulton the first steamboat ever built in this country, built the Beecher Memorial Church in East NY

Note: Rev. Halliday was Henry Ward Beecher's assistant in Plymouth.
