When Chester Carpenter Taylor was born on October 15, 1820, in Franklin County, Illinois, his father, Elijah, was 23 and his mother, Sarah, was 19. He married Cincinnati Cooley and they had nine children together. He then married Patience E. Estes and they had one child together in 1869. He died on August 10, 1896, in Ewing, Illinois, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Middle Fork Cemetery, Franklin County, Illinois.

Obituary:

Died at his home near Ewing, Chester Taylor, aged 76. He had been a member of the Regular Baptist Church for 55 years and a preacher the greater portion of that time. He had been an invalid for several years. He was buried at Middle Fork Church Cemetery. He was a brother to I. C. Taylor of Benton.
