Reverend Ralph Stoney

Of Terryglass and Ballyknockane, Co. Tipperary.

The Visitation of Ireland gives his birth date as October 1784: this information probably comes from his son Lt-Col. Franc Sadleir, and is compatible with his death at 71. But since the only date for his sister Rebecca's birth is September 1784, it would seem that October 1785 is more likely for Ralph. Burke's Irish Family Records gives the birth date as 1785. Alumni Dublinenses implies it was 1786.

"Ralph Stoney became Curate of Terryglass March 1810 [?] in the room of his much lamented friend and Cousin Robt. Stoney" - Teryglass parish register.

Unidentified newspaper: "In Terryglass Glebe House, near Borrisokane the Rev. Ralph Stoney, rector of that parish, sincerly regretted by his parishioners, and all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance" - 28 Jun. 1856, www.rootsireland.ie.

Memorial plaque in Borrisokane church: "In Memory of | Revd. Ralph Stoney A.M. | 7th Son of | Thomas and Ruth Stoney | Died 27 June 1856, Aged 71 years | Also of | Abigail | his wife, daughter of | Thomas and Margaret Sadleir, | Died 5 Augt. 1836, Aged, 34 years."
