About Rfn. George Charles Ebbitt

George Charles Ebbitt was born at Wairoa in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand's North Island on 16 July 1891. His parents were George Ebbitt and Caroline Mary Ebbitt (Brown) who had married in New Zealand in 1887. George joined the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 4th Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 42309). He was killed in action at the Somme on 5 April 1918 and buried in the Euston Road Cemetery [II. B. 6.] in France.
