About Rfn. William AR Stuart
William A R Stuart was the son of William Stuart and Margaret Stuart (nee Ritchie) of Westside, Carnousie, Forglen-by-Turriff, Scotland. He emigrated to New Zealand after the 1901 Scotland Census, where he worked as a farmhand. During World War I William served with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 4th Battalion. He was killed in action at Belgium on 7 June 1917, aged 23. William is remembered on Panel 38 of the Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial.
