About Richard Bermingham, 11th Lord Athenry

Richard, 16th Lord of Athenry, born 1570, married Isabella, daughter of Raymond Tuite. The attended Parliament in 1613, 1615 and 1634, the last summoned by King Charles I's Vice-Regent in Ireland, Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford. In 1617 he received a grant to hold a weekly Monday market and fair in Dunmore. After a relatively peaceful life, Richard died in 1635 at Turlovaughan and was interred with his ancestors in the Friary of Athenry.
