About Richard Haffield
BIOGRAPHY OF RICHARD HAFFIELD
On April 10, 1635, the vessel "Planter" left England, carrying a number of Sudbury, England people to New England. Among the passengers were the family named Haffield. Richard, 54, currier; wife Martha, 42; Mary, 18; Sarah, 14; Martha, 8; Rachel, 6 and Ruth, 3. The Minister of Sudbury & the Mayor of the Town certified their "conformitie to the orders & discipline of the Church of England".
Richard Hasfell (Haffield) settled his family in Ipswich. Richard was not destined to enjoy a long life in New England. He wrote his will on February 17, 1638 and died in 1639. In the will, he mentions his wife, but not by name, and all five of his daughters, Mary, Sarah, Martha, Rachel & Ruth. The will and proof do not mention the date of his death.

Died in 1639 (will dated 17 February 1638/9. On 4 April 1668, "Symon Thompson" deposed regarding "watching with Richard Halfield when he lay upon his death bed about 29 years agone"). MARRIAGES: (1) By about 1618 Judith _____. She died by about 1627. (2) By about 1627 Martha _____. She died at Wenham on 22 February 1667[/8] (presumably at the home of her son-in-law, Thomas White).
