Dear Sherry,
This headstone actually belongs to my wife's ggg grandfather, and Richard's father, also Richard Lambert (b.ca.1819 at Lambert Lake, ME; died 30 Sep 1874 possibly in Bismarck, ND)who served in D Co., 4th Minnesota V.I.R. This Richard and extended family moved from Maine to Minnesota Territory in 1855. His occupation was lumberman and farmer. His wife Lavinia (Hill) died in 1863 at just age 40. He remarried in 1868 to Mary Ayer and in the early 1870's moved to North Dakota Territory.
His son Richard J. Lambert(1848-1896)was too young to serve in the Civil War. He married Charlotte Effner (1847-1808). Both are buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.
Nearby are the graves of Hannah Phillips Hill (1804-1868), his mother-in-law, Mariam Russell Lambert (1791-1868), his mother, and William Trask (1795-1876), his brother-in-law.
I can understand the confusion. Richard was a popular name in this family; there were at least four different Richard Lamberts that lived in Morrison County between 1855-1900.
I last visited this cemetery in 2000- sounds like it has been spruced up quite a bit. Thanks for your work.
