About Richard Lawrence
Life
Richard's birth year of c. 1616 comes from "Gloucester County under the Proprietors". A baptism record from 1618 has been found, which is probably a late baptism due to death of Richard's mother shortly after his birth. If the baptism record is correct, then Richard's parents were Thomas Lawrence and Elizabeth Hopkins. Richard was the last son of Elizabeth; she died shortly after he was born, and her father remarried.
Richard married first in 1641, but the name of his wife was not mentioned in the record. One recorded daughter came of this marriage - Anne - who married Thomas Anderson in 1668 under the auspices of the Quakers. It looks like Anne and her husband Thomas also emigrated to New Jersey and lived in Gloucester County. Thomas's death was recorded there in 1709. Anne must have died before 1689 because she was not mentioned in her father's will written that year.
When his first wife died, Richard remarried, first to Hannah Bright in 1666, whose children all died before 1675, and second to Amie unknown, who gave birth to Richard's only known living son George. Richard, Amie, and George all emigrated to Gloucester County, New Jersey, as part of William Penn's fleet.
Will
Will was written December 29, 1689, and proved December 3, 1695. Will names wife Amie and son George; nobody else.
