RICHARD G MESSMAN
Richard G. "Sam" Messman, age 74, of 1113 27th St. Two Rivers, passed away with his family at his side, Friday evening, April 25, 2014 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. Richard was born in Two Rivers on May 25, 1939, to the late Randolph and Sophie (Mrozinski) Messman. He attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School and was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1957. Dick was very proud of being a member of the 1957 basketball team at Washington High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1959 and served his country until 1962. On October 30, 1965, he married Bette Ceaglske at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was employed with Schwartz Mfg. of Two Rivers for 43 years until his retirement. Richie enjoyed gardening, working around his yard and especially enjoyed his pond. He was always willing to lend a helping hand for his family and many friends; he loved to listen to polka music, take gambling trips, and treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. Dick was a member of the American Legion, and St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kris David Messman; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Victor and Dolores Ceaglske; one sister & brother-in-law, Linda (Donald) Deering; and two sisters-in-law & a brother-in-law, Carol Swetlik, Jeanne Messman and Jerry "Cegal" Ceaglske. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Peter Mitchell, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of the VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers is assisting the Messman family with funeral arrangements. The Messman family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. (private) and the entire staff of Aurora BayCare Medical Center ICU for their compassion and the excellent care given to our beloved husband, father & grandfather.
