15 March 1796 (recorded 29 February 1894, Bergen Co. R:370) Cornelius Demarest, of the Township of Harrington, farmer, and Mary, his wife, conveyed to Staats H. Storm of same place, weaver for L234, 38-8/100 acres, strict measure in Harrington, beginning at SW corner of triangular lot of Casparus Westervelt which said tract was on Feb. 14, 1786 returned to Richard Morris, Trustee of Robert Hunter Morris, dec’d, as recorded at Surveyor General’s office at Perth Amboy, Book S7, p. 384; on 18 Jan. 1791 among other lands to Robert Morris Esquire (recorded Surveyor General’s Book S, p. 112); on 1 Aug. 1795 conveyed to John Neafle and by said John Neafle and Caty, his wife, on 22 Aug. 1795 to said Cornelius Demarest. Signed Cornelius Demarest, Mary Demarest (her mark). Witnessed by Ralph A. Westervelt, Abr. Westervelt.

1720, May 9. He had recorded the earmark which had belonged formerly to his father, Lewis Morris.

1733. He had lands in Nutswamp, Middletown, N.J.

1737. He had lands in the same locality, when he was on the boundary of such lands.

1741, June 19. He married by license, Mary Porter, spinster. Joseph Shepherd, cooper, was bondsman. The signing of his will, twenty-one years later, proves that all his children, mentioned as under age, in his will, were by this wife. As he left, at his death in 1763, twenty children, of whom nine were minors, he must have been previously married, once, if not twice, to account for the additional eleven children.

1762, May 10. Wills of Richard Morris of Middletown, N.J.; proved May 3, 1763, mentioned: Wife, Mary Morris, L50 (fifty British pounds). Son, William Morris, 10 shillings to bar him as heir. Loving daughters, Phoebe Anny Rebecca Catharine, minors, under eighteen years; each L50 (fifty British pounds). Five sons, Jacob Richard Lewis Robert George, each L50 at the age of twenty-one years. Three daughters, Sarah Burdge Mary Burdge Margaret Morford each L20. Son, James Morris, to receive L50, over the others, if he keeps Henry. Son, Henry, to be kept by son, James. Son, Benjamin, the residue of the estate, on conditions. Nine children: Richard Lewis Robert George Anny Phoebe Rebecca Lidia Catharine to be maintained out of the estate, by Benjamin, until they are of age. Son, John Nine sons: William Job James Joseph Jacob Richard Lewis Robert George (Isaiah Morris is George’s son) Executors: Son-in-law, Joseph Burdge of Freehold, and trusty friend, William Crawford, of Middletown; Witnesses: David Morris, John Taylor, and Benjamin Thorp, by his mark.
