About Richard Rowe
Death of Mr. Richard Rowe
It is our painful duty to record tho death of Mr. Richard Rowe, one of our pioneer settlers, who died on Tuesday last, of congestion of the lungs, after a short but painful illness, at the age of 63 years. The late Mr. Rowe was a native of Marhamchurch, Cornwall, and arrived at New Plymouth in the ' William Bryant,' in April, 1841 ; and during his long residence here has commanded the respect of all who knew him, as a just and upright man. His open handed charity and blameless life will long be remembered amongst us. He has for many years held the position of treasurer and trustee for the Wesleyan Church, and has been trustee and a member of the New Plymouth Friendly Society since its formation. The funeral will leave. his late residence, Currie-street, this afternoon, at three o'clock.
