About Rita Marie Antholz

She was born Oct. 22, 1933 in Tully, Kan., to George and Clara (Barenberg) Pianalto. She attended grade school at the Hillside School District, rural Atwood. She completed her education at St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith , Ark., and graduated in 1951.

On April 15, 1952, she married Carl H.J. Antholz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood. The couple worked together on the family farm near McDonald. She worked as a bus driver and para-professional for Cheylin Unified School District until the time of her death.

She was a Eucharist Minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bird City; and was a member of the Garden Club, the Christian Mother's Altar Society, serving 2 years as Society President, and the church choir. She was Liturgy Chairman and the CCD Coordinator for the Parish. She was also a member of the Salina Diocesan Board of Education after Carl resigned.

Mass of Christian burial will be February 12 2004 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bird City with the Revs. Beryl Gibson, Daryl Olmstead and Norbert Dlabal officiating. Interment was at Grace Cemetery in McDonald.
