Rita was born Jan. 2, 1932, to Alf and Catherine Koester in Trowbridge. She attended grade school and high school in Effingham.

She was a faith-filled member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and in her retirement years, worked as a teacher's aide with kindergarten classes at Our Lady of Lourdes. Rita regularly had many kindergartners come to her home for Christmas teas and to make ceramic ornaments, a longtime hobby of hers. She had the magic of helping young children learn beginning life lessons and skills.

On Aug. 19, 1950, she was wed to the love of her life, Gerald "Jeep" Brumleve and celebrated life with him until his death in February 2008.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Diana; sons, Doug of Decatur, Bruce (wife, Becki) and Mark (wife, Patti).

Grandma took pride in and gave tremendous love to her grandchildren, Rachael and Jessica; Rebekah (Fredrick); Michael (wife, Heather); Sam, Clint, Chet, Lena, Sarah, Shane and Rylie. Her newest delight was her first great-grandson, Payton.

Rita also was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bernard, sister, Alice; and grandson, Nathan.

Visitation was at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3850 Lourdes Drive, Decatur, IL. 62526, with Mass of the Resurrection.

Burial was in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur.
