Rivka Spitz

A copy of an epitaph from a Prostějov gravestone states that Rivka wife of Aharon Spitz died Saturday, 12 Tamuz 5566, which converts to 27-28 June 1806. However, the only corresponding Prostějov death record is for a Rivka Spitz (aged 33) who died on July 1, 1803, which converts to 11-12 Tamuz 5563. Additionally, there's a Prostějov marriage record indicating that Rabiner Aharon Spitz(er), a widower, married widow Jached Politch[ek], age 32, on 27 January 1804. It therefore seems plausible that the year on the actual gravestone was 5563 rather than 5566, and the gimel was mistaken for a vav when copied.
