Robert Abernathy, Jr.

Robert, Jr. & Martha (Asbury) Abernathy were married circa 1808 in Lincoln Co., NC. I have listed children of this union based upon the Will of Robert, Jr. (see below).

Much thanks to researcher Harold Gosnell, who sent me some information regarding Abnernathy/Gibbs/Asbury/Morris ancestry, including an email in 2005 detailing the Will of Robert Abernathy, Jr.: "I will and bequeath to my bodily children, hereafter named, Mira my daughter, wife of Isaac Ward, Susey my daughter, wife of Wila (Wiley) Gibbs, my sons Hiram, David Mills, Rufus, and John Wesley, and my daughters Elliis wife of Asbery Edwards, Letty wife of Rufus Bandy, and Abigail wife of Herbert Edwards each one ten dollars to be paid by my Executor who I will Appoint on the other side. I hereby nominate and appoint my Trust friend and son in law Rufus Bandy my lawful Executor, he is to collect my debts and pay all my just debts, and the balance if any I will bequeath to be equally divided among my last named children viz: Mira, Susa, Hiram, David Mills, Rufus, John Wesley, Ellis, Letty and Abigail share and share alilke. I also will my two daughters, Perlina and Liza Angaline my smithin tools." (Susa was Susannah who married Wiley Wilcher Gibbs).
