From the Grinder Family History Book: "The earliest known Adams Ancestor is Robert Adams. He died in 1822 St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. "History of Bedford, St. Clair Township" says "Robert Adams was a native born Englishman who was a pioneer settler in that area. He underwent many hardships, and during Indian troubles he was obliged to go to the fort every night to escape from being murdered.".
