Robert’s father, Alexander, was born in Sutherlandshire, Scotland on January 1, 1842. Alexander moved to Canada from Scotland in 1868-69 and is seen in Canadian Census records in 1871. He married Margaret (McAuley, Brown) on August 22, 1879. They acquired more land around the original homestead of Alexander Brown’s, which became the Gordon Ranch. The Ranch is where all the children were raised. The Gordon Ranch was about 7 miles up the North Thompson River from Kamloops. By present standards, it was a really good ranch. It was sold to the B.C.
