Will of Robert Dodgson 1721
In the name of God Amen. I Robert Dodgson of Paythorne in the parish of Gisburn and County of York Yeoman being a little infirm in body but of a sound and perfect mind and memory praise be to God for the same do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following First and principally I do commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator who gave it me and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named and as touching the settlement and disposition of my worldly estate my will and mind is as followeth: My real and personal estate and these I give and devise and bequeath to Agnes Dodgson my loving wife and her heirs and assigns for ever. All my lands, messuages and tenements that I had by my father's last will and testament and all the land I purchased off Thomas Corlas and Richard Brown with appurtenances thereto belonging as also one fire house, one barn one clods called The Croft and green one garden and one other garden that lies by the back side of the late Thomas Lancaster's which I purchased off Thomas Turner with appurtenances thereto belonging with full power liberty licence and authority to demise (sic) give grant bar...? sell set or let devise bequeath and dispose of the same messuages lands tenements and hereditaments as to her seems meet and convenient for the preferment of my children and for giving them their several parts and child's portions as may be answerable to my estate as may be thought convenient by her judgement with her friends advice and I also give and bequeath unto Agnes Dodgson my said wife the tenant right of one moiety of Wilcocks Tenement with all the......? of my estate both real and personal and lastly I do hereby constitute nominate and appoint Agnes Dodgson my said wife sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness thereof I the said Robert Dodgson have herein set my hand and seal this 21st day of August 1721.
