Robert V. Eller,67, Kamiah Resident, Navy Veteran - Visitation for Robert V. Eller, 67, of Kamiah will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Trenary Funeral Home at Kooskia. Rosary vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Trenary Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Church with the Rev. George King officiating.
Eller died Thursday at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Spokane from heart disease.
He was born Dec. 15, 1929, at Grangeville to Vernon C. and Mabel Lingo Eller.
He graduated from Kamiah High School in 1948 and attended the University of Idaho for three years. In his freshman year, he was on the UI varsity basketball team.
Eller served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He married Beverly A. Schlader June 22, 1954, in Honolulu. They were divorced in 1979.
He married Dora G. Lawyer Oct. 20, 1979 in Boise.
He was partners with Jim and Connie Green in the Bargain Corral and owned and operated photography studios in Kamiah and Grangeville. Eller was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service at Kamiah for 30 years. At various times, he was partners with his father Vern (Popper) Eller in a cattle ranch, owned Rimrock Tropicals fish store and wrote a weekly column for the Clearwater Progress.
He was a VFW post commander and American Legion commander. When younger, he played town team basketball. He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Dora, at their Kamiah home; one sister, Connie J. Davis of Kamiah; four sons, Stan J. Eller of Homer, Alaska, Dan V. Eller of Colville, Wash., Randy D. Eller of Kamiah, and Jeff A. Eller of Asotin; three daughters, Jody J. Servatius and Nancy A. Eller, both of Asotin, and Barby S. Konrad of Kamiah; one stepson, Bill Howard of Boise; and 16 grandchildren.
