Robert Elmes was born on 26 September 1707 at Scituate. He was the son of Jonathan Elmes and Patience.

Marriage banns for Robert Elmes and H(A)nnah Stephens were published on 9 June 1732 at Scituate.

Robert Elmes died on 4 March 1786 at Scituate at age 78.
