About Robert Wm. Henry
Robert served in the Adamantine Guards for 5 years during the Civil War. In Greek Adamantine means "hard or unyielding, like a diamond". The Adamantine Guards, also known as Company H of the Union Army's 3d Penna. Cavalry had to be unyielding because they fought in some of the war's major engagements. Some of these engagements were the battles of Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Robert served alongside approximately 130 local men.
