

On May 1, the campus community was saddened by the news of the death of Dr. Robert L Lancaster, Chairman of Southwestern University's Art Department. Dr. Lancaster had been at Southwestern since 1959, was highly respected and loved by his students and all of those with whom he worked. One of the area's most outstanding Sculptures, he had the knack of passing on to his students not only his mastery of technique but also his enthusiasm for and his love of beauty, nature, and all of the things which enrich life. Robert Lee Lancaster, Ph.D., II was born on September 3, 1924, in San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, USA. His parents were Robert Lee Lancaster, I and Ada Louise Regen. Professor of Art, Southwestern University, at Georgetown.
Robert Lee married Wanda Beatrice Hayes on January 24, 1948, in San Marcos, Texas, USA. Together they had the following children: Laura Lancaster.
He died on May 1, 1974, in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, USA, and was buried in San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, United States of America.
