About Robert Anderson Moon
Robert Anderson Moon was 1st Sergeant with Co. G, 154 Senior Regiment Tennessee Infantry (1st Tenn Vols) Confederate States of America. He enlisted June 3, 1861 in Memphis. A letter dated July 11 1861 sent to Pres. Jefferson Davis from many "merchants and citizens of Memphis" recommended Moon for the office of Collector of the Memphis Port. They said he was a "gentleman of sterling integrity, and is eminently qalified for the position. From Jan - July 1962 he was detailed with the Com. Department. On a roll dated May 5 1863, Shelbyville, he was "discharged over age." In his discharge papers described him as Thirty Eight years, 5' 9 1/2" inches tall, fair complexion with blue eyes and light hair and by profession a merchant.
