Robert Calvin Moss - 1946 to 2006

POCATELLO – Robert Calvin Moss, 59, passed away Wednesday February 8, 2006 while participating in one of his life long pleasures, working on the railroad. He was born December 2, 1946 to Trevor and Delta Moss in Pocatello, Idaho.

Bob’s partner in love and life for the past twenty years has been Deborah Renee.

He attended Whittier Elementary, Hawthorne Jr. High and Pocatello High School. While in high school he excelled in football and baseball. He later obtained his GED an accomplishment he was proud of.

Bob lived most of his life in Pocatello but spent some time in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Southern California. Bob went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1970 as a Brakemen/Conductor. In his early years he worked for the City of Pocatello and as a cook for the Green Triangle and The Parasol Restaurant in Seal Beach, CA. This instilled in him a great love for cooking.

He was a true blue union man, a member of the United Transportation Union for 36 years Bob wasn’t a church going man but he often said he loved his God and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Bob loved dogs, hunting and trains and especially his beloved yellow lab Boe, who was there to cross the rainbow bridge with him. He loved to cook and was famous for his seafood cocktails and clam chowder he also made a mean prime. He loved to travel. He was an avid Yankees fan. He was an intelligent man and was well read and constantly educating himself in history and current events. Bob was very generous and civically minded he was a humanitarian and gave to those who were less fortunate with compassion in his heart. Bob had excellent work ethics his work record was a testament to that, one of his co-workers put it best, “he was good help.”

Bob loved his brothers very much and had a special place in his heart for Bonnie Jimenez, Jim and Penny Miller and Ron and Darlene Benner. He loved his children and his nieces and nephews. Bob knew love, and his passing leaves a huge void in all our lives.

Bob is survived by; his wife, Deborah, Pocatello; son, David Smith, Boise; daughters, Lisa Duffy, Portland, OR, Trena Moss, Glendale, AZ, Boby Mutsaers, Pheonix, AZ; brothers, Roy (Carol) Hall, Hunnington Beach, CA, Mike Henry, Pocatello, Pat (Earlene) Henry, Pocatello, Kevin (KayLynn) Wulf, Pocatello; sister-in-laws, Larue Hall, Pocatello, Linda Sykes, Pocatello; special friends, Jim and Penny Miller, Pocatello, Terry and Bonnie Jimenez, Vancouver, WA; father and mother in law, Ron and Darlene Benner, Portland; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by; his father, Trevor Moss; mother, Delta Montague; Brother, David Sykes and brother, John Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday February 15, 2005 at the Colonial Funeral Chapel. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday February 14, 2006 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery. A celebration of Bob’s life will follow services at the Yellowstone Hotel. Condolences can be sent to P.O. Box 421 Pocatello, ID 83204
