Robert H. Petry

Robert H. Petry, 86, of Camp Hill and formerly of New Cumberland passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 in the hospital.

A WWII Navy Veteran, he was the former owner of West Shore Tire and Supply and Petry Auto Parts in Lemoyne. Prior to that he was in Management Training for the Gulf Oil Corporation. He was a lifelong member and former Deacon at Market Square Presbyterian Church. As his father was the Superintendent of the State Hospital System, Bob grew up on the hospital grounds. He attended Harrisburg Academy until 1942 and graduated from the Hill School in 1943. He received a Bachelor of Science in History from Franklin and Marshall College in 1949. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. An avid sailor and snow skier, he was also a member of Steeler Nation and the Pennsylvania State Hospital Historical Society.

He was born August 1, 1925 in Warren, Pennsylvania to the late Howard Kistler Petry, MD and Marion Hughes Petry. He was the widower of Gloria Stetler Petry and Annamary Cook Petry.

He is survived by two sons, William S. of Camp Hill and David H. Petry of Orlando, FL; a daughter, Patricia Ann Petry of Manassas, VA; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ann Petry. He is also survived by William's wife Cynthia B. Petry.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Market Square Presbyterian Church. Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
