Parish records show burial at Carisbrooke, 1838, but notes from Jean GAYMER suggest their were two white stone cross memorials for Robert & Jemima nr. St Catherines Point. (Niton ?). I searched Niton Churchyard Dec. 1993 but could not find anything. There were a lot of broken memorial stones heaped up near the church.
Medical: Cause of death: Dropsy in the chest 8
Research: Research on birth: (strictly we only have Baptism Record) If statement on David Raynes's tree is correct, dof b can be deduced as Jan 1758 if he was aged 80yrs 2mo. at death. On the other hand, his army Record of Service WO25/772 gives age on joining the service on 26 Sep 1795 as 36. This implies dob btwn 27/9/1758 and 26/9/1759. This should narrow the search. Might be worth trying Times, Gentleman's Mag. etc BM &D columns.
Marriage to Mary M. was by licence, so further info. might be available from allegations. St Mary St Marylebone is in Commissary Court of London: research where allegations or equivalent can be found.
Try too, Gloucester Holy Trinity Births in 1758 -the records for 1730 - 1765 are in Gloucestershire Record Office, but not IGI or SocGen. Also Bishop's Transcripts for St Nicholas, " Gloucester cited on "Family Search" - the record looked at was from poor copy of Parish Register.
Career: What can we find on the Commissioner of Bankrupts?
