  • Son of Alexander Shaw of Tordarroch, 8th Chief of Clan Ay and Anna McIntosh.
  • Died on 8 January 1718, unmarried.
  • He gained the rank of Captain in 1715 in the Shaw Company, Mackintosh's Regiment, raised by him at Farr in Strathnairn, in support of the titular King James III.
  • He fought in the Battle of Preston in November 1715, where he was taken prisoner at Preston and confined to Newgate Prison.
  • He was released in 1717. Citation Burke's Peerage 2003 volume 3, page 3587.
