Robin (58), who worked in the fire protection industry, was shot dead on the veranda of his Bryanston house in front of his wife, Lynne, on 11th December 2006.
Lynne said that they were sitting outside when two males appeared. One of the gunmen shot Robin twice in the chest, and Lynne said that he was dead before he hit the ground. The gunman then held the firearm at Lynne's head, grabbed her cellphone and fled.
Werner Vermaak, from the ER24 medical rescue company, said paramedics were unable to resuscitate Robin. He was declared dead on the scene.
After leaving the scene, paramedic, Denver Ramnarain, then heard more gunfire coming from the Bel Air complex in Arklow Road, and saw people running out of the complex. After one of the residents described the gunmen, it appeared that they were the same perpetrators who shot Robin. The paramedics treated a 50-year-old man who sustained facial injuries from being thrown to the ground by one of the perpetrators.
Police spokesperson Captain Cheryl Engelbrecht said, "a firearm, believed to have been dropped by one of the suspects as they ran from the shootings, was recovered on the scene."
